Oxford Power Plant Draws Noise And Traffic Concerns: Report

Residents have expressed quality of life concerns since construction on the plant commenced.

OXFORD, CT — Some residents say the new Oxford Power Plant is generating excessive noise and an unreasonable increase in truck traffic through their tranquil neighborhoods, the Republican-American reports.

Oxford First Selectman George R. Temple told the Rep-Am that there are other projects also occurring and he believes that most of the extra truck traffic is coming from the Beacon Falls industrial park. He said tickets may be handed out to stop that.

Other residents complained about noise from drilling and blasting from the plant, especially early in the morning, the Rep-Am reports. The owners of the power plant say they are conforming to noise regulations and are monitoring truck traffic. Residents said they'd like the noisy operations to not occur early in the morning. Construction on the plant is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
