Oxford School Board Cuts $420,000

Clerical workers asked to go part time, pay to play implemented.

The Oxford Board of Education reduced four clerical workers to part time, implemented a pay to play and participate in sports and other extracurricular activities and cut proposed new teachers during a special budget meeting on Thursday.

The board needed to cut $420,000 from the proposed budget after the first budget attempt failed at a referendum. The next referendum on the budget is this coming Tuesday, June 7, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Quaker Farms School.

The following is everything that the school board cut on Thursday night. School board members could not immediately be reached for comment on Friday. We will follow up this story.
