
The Oxford High School softball team knocked off the previously undefeated vaunted Seymour Wildcats 7-6 on Tuesday.
In what will likely go down as the best win to date for the Oxford softball team, Seymour didn’t give up without a fight.
With two outs in the top of the seventh inning (the last inning in high school softball), Emily Coyne of Seymour rocked a three-run homer to put Seymour down by one run. The next girl walked, but Oxford pitcher Paige Husar buckled down and got the final batter of the game to ground out to short.

Oxford was led by Husar, who had nine strikeouts in a complete game. She also helped herself at the plate with a two RBI single in the fifth inning that ended up being the winning runs.
Kelsey Svenson triped with an RBI and scored two runs, while Haley Dauerty had two doubles, a single and two runs scored. Stephanie Karcher had an RBI triple in the first inning, and Clare Michalak had a single and two RBI with a run scored.

Oxford capitalized on three errors by Seymour and played a near flawless game in the field with no errors.
Oxford is now 6-9 on the season; Seymour is 14-1.
