Oxford Takes Steps To Replace Aging Police Vehicles

The selectmen approved funds for a new purchase at a recent meeting.

OXFORD, CT — The Oxford Board of Selectmen have approved spending $42,760 for the purchase of a 2017 Ford Utility Police Interceptor All Wheel Drive Vehicle. Resident Trooper Sgt. Dan Semosky told the selectmen that the Police Department is behind on purchasing police vehicles, according to meeting minutes.

Three of the department's vehicles are more than nine years old and are "getting worn out," Semosky said. Additionally, the older vehicles don't have newer safety features. The department will keep the older vehicles for road jobs and the Selectmen including George R. Temple said that was a good use for the older vehicles.
