Photo Gallery: Opening Day of Oxford Football Season

The lost in its opener Saturday 49-14 to Masuk of Monroe, last year's undefeated state Class L champion and the No. 2 ranked team in the state per MaxPreps.com, which tracks and ranks high school sports teams nationwide.

Masuk jumped out to an early lead, returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown on a reverse. Oxford was down 42-7 at halftime.

Oxford senior tri-captain Chris Hovan scored on an 84 yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the first half. Jeff Haney scored on a 20 yard fumble recovery for Oxford's other score.

The game at Oxford High School featured a halftime show by the OHS dance team and the local youth flag football programs.
