Prospect Resident and former Jeopardy Contestant Lands Job
Fran Fried, who caused a sensation with her Jeopardy appearance, is thrilled with new work opportunity that starts today.

PROSPECT, CT – Last October when Prospect resident Fran Fried appeared on Jeopardy it was big news.
It generally is big news when a Connecticut resident makes the extremely popular television show. But Fried, a writer, editor and professional disc jockey, took it to a whole different level because she was only the third transgender person ever to appear on the show.
Alas, Fried didn't win on the show - crashing and burning in Final Jeopardy after being in the lead earlier in the show.

Fried described the whole Jeopardy experience as "being a blur. Fried, added: Win or lose, I'm hoping something good comes from it. I'm crossing my fingers."
Well, something has.

Fried, who told Patch that she "runs in somebody just about everybody who remembers me from Jeopardy," shared with her friends on Facebook the good news.

"Well, a bit of news ...
"I'm wrapping up my last day at the part-time job at the place I've worked the last 20 months. It's a job that came up at a really strange and heady time in my life (I started two days after my father's funeral). It didn't pay a hell of a lot, and the driving nearly an hour each way on 84 three days a week was trying, but the voice inside told me to take the job because somehow, something good would happen. (Albie (dad) also told me the week before he passed to take the job - the last bit of advice to me). And the people I've worked with have made this a pleasant experience.
"Anyway, something dropped in my lap out of nowhere the last Friday of the year via a phone call. In short: I've been hired to help out on a huge project, about which I have to keep quiet. (If I happened to mention this to you in private, please keep it on the down-low). A lot of transcribing interviews, some copy editing and some gofer work. I've actually been doing the job two days a week for the last couple of weeks; I go full-time there Monday (today).
"And on the good side: It's 10 minutes from home - much less wear and tear on the car and NO 84. Being hired by authors (people I know) for my lifelong skill set is doing wonders for my mojo. I'm actually feeling like writing again. And, while it's technically freelance (the world of 1099s for the first time in my life), for now I'll be making real money for the first since my layoff in Fresno - nine years ago. I can get out of the hole at long last and maybe save some money for the first time in ages.
"I've said it before, and I've been wrong. But this time, I'm hoping that it really is the light at the end of tunnel. Like Jeopardy! It seems like an out-of-body experience that's happening to someone else. But it does seem as if the Universe is doing some smiling on me.
"I'm humbled and grateful and thankful."
