A recent study concluded top officials were grossly underpaid when compared to other towns.

OXFORD, CT — At the recent town meeting on the budget the hot topic was salary hikes for key town employees including the position of first selectman, the Republican-American reports.
A recent study concluded several top officials were underpaid compared to comparable sized towns and $153,852 was allocated by the Board of Selectmen for raises for non-union municipal employees, the Rep-Am reports.
The position of first selectman would see an increase from $64,933 to $83,000 and the finance director position would earn $104,000 or a $22,000 increase, the Rep-Am reports. The finance director is adding an extra day to his work week.
