Help Flood the Food Banks on Wednesday, August 5! Middlesex United Way, in partnership with The Flood Law Firm, is hosting a countywide food drive to benefit local food pantries throughout Middlesex County.
Community members are encouraged to donate nonperishable food and essential household items at participating collection sites across the county. Volunteers are also welcome to help collect donations throughout the day. (See link to sign-up to volunteer or donate)
The event is part of Middlesex United Way's Middlesex Pantry Project, an ongoing initiative to strengthen local food pantries and help ensure neighbors experiencing food insecurity have access to nutritious food year-round.<h3>Participating Collection Locations</h3>

MIDDLESEX HOSPITAL VOCAL CHORDS (MHVC) seeks altos, tenors and basses to join them in preparing for their 36 annual holiday concert to be held on Sunday, December 6, 2026.&nbsp; The event will be held at Portland High School, 95 High St., Portland at 2pm.&nbsp; We are searching for enthusiastic men and women (over age 18) to expand our Vocal Chord family.&nbsp; No auditions or prior experience required and you do not have to be an employee of Middlesex Health.&nbsp; Deadline to join is Tuesday, September 8th.&nbsp; This is a community-focused group that has delighted audiences for 36 years with energetic concerts featuring a wide range of musical styles.&nbsp; Our 80 current members hail from Central and Southern CT and represent diverse backgrounds.&nbsp; What unites us is our shared love for singing.

Our 77-acre Outdoor Center sits on beautiful Jobs Pond in Portland, CT. With open fields, modern facilities, and peaceful woodlands, it’s the perfect place for children to grow in spirit, mind, and body. At YMCA Camp Ingersoll, safety and character are our top priorities. All staff are CPR/First Aid certified, and a full-time nurse is on duty during camp hours. Our team is carefully selected for their maturity, experience, and commitment to the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. As Character Champions, our counselors work to build a strong Camp Family where every camper is supported, included, and encouraged. As a licensed day camp, we meet or exceed all Connecticut Department of Health standards. We also believe deeply in the power of play and its role in learning.
