SSEC VBS 2026: Road Trip - God is with us on the journey!
Vacation Bible Schools or VBS is for everyone!&nbsp; This VBS at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church runs&nbsp; August 17-21&nbsp;from 9am to noon each day, and we hope you join us!
We’ll be learning about how God loves us and is always with us wherever we go&nbsp;while playing games, singing songs, moving, doing crafts, having snacks, and making friends!
This VBS is for campers in PreK4s through 5th grade.&nbsp; Youth in 6th-8th grade can be CITs (Counselors in Training) and High School youth can be Counselors.&nbsp;
Adult volunteers are also needed.&nbsp; Adults who volunteer for a leader position or&nbsp;5-days will receive one free registration for a camper/counselor.&nbsp;So register at the link below by June 30th since space is limited and we need to order all the fun craft and decoration supplies ahead of time.&nbsp; See you there!

She previously worked in corporate marketing and information services. She has also taught Microsoft Office at the community college level. She holds a BA and MA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Beginning Tai Chi (Yang Long Form) Tai Chi, described as meditation in motion is a centuries old Chinese discipline used for health, relaxation, and meditation. Relaxation and inner calm and strength are emphasized. It can be practiced by anyone, regardless of age, sex or athletic ability. Tai Chi is considered a healing exercise. Taught by Gwen Roman (Wednesday evening) and Rod Barfield (Friday morning).
* Gwen Roman has extensive experience in the Arts of Tai Chi and Jin Shin Jyutsu. She has extensive experience teaching Tai Chi and trains with Myles MacVane. Other teachers include Alex Dong, Master Bing, and Wang Feng-Ming. She has taught in Ridgefield since 2005. * Rod Barfield, a former NYC teacher, has been doing Tai Chi exercises since 1994 and has studied the Tai Chi Form under Gwen Roman for over seven years.

Tai Chi Strength and Balance Exercises
Tai Chi Strength and Balance (Beginner): the Natural Way to Promote Health This class is a meditation in motion and a full body workout combined, all done standing (no mat). This first class consists of 35 basic Tai Chi exercises designed to promote better health, stress relief, balance and coordination, concentration, and internal organ massage. These exercises are based on Step by Step Tai Chi: the Natural Way to Strength and Healing by Master Lam Kam Chuen. Please have a set of 2 or 3 pound weights and a water bottle available. Welcome to Ridgefield Continuing Education! We hold classes year-round and some classes start soon – Day and Evening! – in Person and Zoom.

Windows 11 Basics Prerequisite: Basic computer skills. Have your laptop or desktop PC handy and ease your transition to Windows 11. Learn how to customize your Start menu and desktop, how to use the Windows Edge browser, how to personalize Windows though its array of settings, how to speak to Windows using the Cortana voice assistant, and how to shop for apps at the Windows Store. Instructor Lance Whitney is a technology journalist and the author of the book Teach Yourself Visually LinkedIn. He's also written a book on Windows 8. He currently writes for TechRepublic, ZDNet, PCMag, and other technology sites. Previously, he was a system administrator with Ciba Specialty Chemicals. Zumba ® with Yolima 
Zumba, a high energy fitness workout, combines Latin and internatonal music with dance moves, creating a fun and effective workout. It incorporates elements of aerobic, interval and resistance training, maximizing calorie burning and cardiovascular benefits. Move to the rhythm of salsa, flamenco, merengue and other global beats. Wear sneakers and bring a water bottle. Instructor Yolima Solano is licensed in Zumba ®, a life long dancer originally from Colombia, who enjoys teaching Zumba ® in the area. She is also a dental hygienist.

LaBlast Fitness ® Cardio Dance Workout with Light Weights You will get your heart rate up and sweat a bit with this aerobic workout created by Louis Van Amstel of Dancing with the Stars. LaBlast® is a partner-free, simple, low impact, safe, cardio / ballroom dance workout for all levels. Some exercises use optional light weights. There is no mat. It's fun and energizing. Beginners are encouraged to attend. Wear sneakers and bring light hand weights (if you have them) and a water bottle. Instructor Denise Nethercott started ballroom dancing in 2011 and has successfully competed as an amateur ballroom dancer with Fred Astaire Dance Studios. She is an Open Gold level dancer with numerous accomplishments. Denise's mission is to combine her passion for ballroom dance with her passion for physical fitness. LaBlast® is a fun, safe exercise program that combines the love of dance with the need to move our bodies. Denise became a certified LaBlast® Fitness instructor in 2019 and started Dance Fit with Denise in 2021. More bio on website.

Mah Jongg for Beginners - New Classes Starting Fall 2026

One bam..two crack! Never heard those words? In this course you'll not only learn what they mean, but will discover an exciting game that is experiencing a resurgence in popularity. When you take this class, you will learn from square one. Or should I say tile one! This primer is very basic and will have you playing in no time. Attendance at the first two classes is a must. You will learn rules of the game as sanctioned by the National Mah Jongg League. Please bring the 2026 National Mah Jongg League card to the first class (see notes below). If you own a Mah Jongg set bring it to class (do not run out and buy one). Come join me to learn this entertaining, social and most enjoyable game. Instructor Sybl Falik started playing Mah Jongg as a young mother, as a way to socialize. Quickly Mah Jongg became a passion, and she used this game to meet friends by teaching the game to women. On Wednesday, July 1st, The Brewster Summer Music Series will kick off July 4th weekend with a free concert featuring the return of Bookends Band – back by popular demand after captivating a record-size audience last year.Now celebrating their 50th year together, Bookends Band has been delighting audiences since 1976 with their unique blend of classic favorites, hidden gems and original music. Their approach is refreshingly simple: “great songs – played very, very well.” 



The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. at the gazebo in Southeast Veterans Park, located at the corner of Railroad and Morningthorpe Avenues in Brewster. In the event of inclement weather the performance will be moved indoors, thanks to the generosity of Tom and Jerry's Irish House.

 The Brewster Summer Music Series continues every Wednesday evening through August 5, offering eight weeks of outstanding live music, community engagement, and family-friendly entertainment. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy food vendors, ice cream trucks, sponsor displays, and the popular 50/50 raffle.

The July 1 concert will also spotlight community organizations Second Chance Foods, Carmel/Brewster Garden Club and Putnam Prevention Council, along with other Community organizations Partners. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable food items to support local food recovery efforts and help combat hunger in the community.

The Brewster Summer Music Series is one of many programs of the Town of Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating and sustaining cultural arts in the region. Since 2010, the Coalition has led the restoration of the historic Southeast Old Town Hall while presenting hundreds of cultural events through the Studio Around the Corner, the Old Town Hall Theater, and other local venues. Parents may drop their child/children off at 6:00pm and pick them up at 8:00pm each evening. Parents are invited to join their child on Friday for family fun.
