Tech journalist Lance Whitney will show you the major AI sites - ChatGPT, Bing AI, and Google Bard - and describe how to use them. <a href="https://ridgefieldlibrary.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Ridgefield Library</a> has partnered with <a href="https://rvnahealth.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">RVNAhealth</a> to introduce a monthly Memory Café, held at the Library and created as a welcoming hour of shared activities, conversation, and connection for individuals living with memory changes and the care partners who support them
Memory Cafés began in Holland in the late 1990s as a simple idea: create a friendly, social setting where people experiencing memory changes and those who care for them could gather, enjoy familiar activities, and spend time together in a relaxed, supportive environment. Today, Memory Cafés are found worldwide and are designed for people living with memory changes and their care partners to enjoy together.
Each Memory Café offers a chance to step away from appointments, schedules, and daily responsibilities and simply enjoy time together. Make Room for Natives: Sharing the Environment with Wildlife There has been a lot of hype about “Natives ”in the past year or so.&nbsp; Jackie Algon's class will explore what native plants are and why they are important. For beginning or fairly-new gardeners, we will start with the basics: getting your soil ready, removing invasive plants from your property, assessing what is already growing in your yard and what you can consider adding or deleting from it, the New Best Practices for gardening that will help make your garden more sustainable, resilient and functional not only for the aesthetics that please humans, but also for the support of wildlife and ecology.&nbsp;Instructor, Jackie Algon is an Advanced CT Master Gardener and Gardening Lecturer, a Board member of the Pollinator Pathway.  Sleepy Time for Gardens:Putting Your Gardens to Bed This Autumn Many gardeners in the past spent a lot of time in their gardens in the Autumn, preparing them for over wintering.&nbsp; New Best Practices advise significant changes in the way we approach these tasks.&nbsp; If we follow these recommendations, we will save ourselves much effort while providing wildlife a restful Winter during which they can complete his class will explore the reasons for the new methods from the bottom (roots and soil) up and from the top (canopy) down.&nbsp; We will consider planting options for the cool of Autumn, including some specific shrubs, trees, and perennials, as well as ground covers and determine why layering our property is a healthful strategy for the environment.&nbsp; Instructor Jackie Algon&nbsp;is an Advanced Master Gardener and a Board member of the Pollinator Pathway.&nbsp; She has also taught many classes in the CT Master Gardener program.

Mushroom Walk with Mycologist, Zaac Chaves Grab a notebook and join Zaac Chaves on a mycologically focused ecological tour at a state park&nbsp;Ridgefield (a different state park than we have used in the past). During this outing we will identify seasonal mushrooms. You will help us catalog species (including possibly rare sightings) and even help document increasing evidence of climate change locally. No experience required. Zaac Chaves works on species surveys for several sites and sometimes with organizations including Harvard University, the New York Botanical Gardens, and the National Parks Service. We have found several new species at many sites and are also helping recognize others which are rare and disappearing. Writing a Novel or Short Story 
Participants will learn how to successfully create, develop, or complete your novel or short story by FIRST focusing on the basics, such as character development, scene creation, and a fully developed plot, which will enable you to construct a coherent, satisfying story scene-by-scene, and chapter-by-chapter. Just as importantly, you'll learn how to avoid the biggest mistakes, such as jumping in at page one with no real idea how your story will develop or even how it will end. Getting to know all your major and minor characters first, as well as all the main conflicts and actions of your story, will make your writing a far more manageable and rewarding experience.
We'll look at:

 <li>Formulating a plot</li>
 <li>Building scenes that move your story ahead</li>
 <li>First, second, and final drafts</li>
</ul>

Avoid probate, minimize estate taxes, protect assets from Medicaid, preserve IRA funds, provide for disabled family members, and protect your estate from your children’s creditors. Trusts keep you in control: You say what goes in, what comes out, and who does what. Avoid conservatorship during incapacity, litigation over your estate, costs of probate, and Medicaid forfeitures. The 44th Annual WICC Surfside Hotel <a href="https://www.bluefishtournament.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth</a> returns to Long Island Sound on Saturday, August 29, with fishing officially beginning at 12:01 a.m. Anglers from Connecticut and New York will compete for bragging rights—and a $25,000 grand prize awarded to the tournament's largest bluefish.
The weekend-long tournament features more than $40,000 in total cash prizes, including:

 <li>1st Place: $25,000</li>
 <li>2nd Place: $7,500</li>
 <li>3rd Place: $2,500</li>
 <li>Smaller cash prizes awarded through 20th Place</li>
 <li>Port Prizes awarded for the heaviest bluefish weighed at each official Connecticut and New York weigh station (see below for complete list of weigh stations)</li>
</ul>
Young anglers, 17 and under, will also have the chance to win big. The tournament will award a $1,000 cash prize to the largest bluefish caught by a youth angler. Second and third place youth winners will receive $100 gift cards.

The Glass House, built between 1949 and 1995 by architect Philip Johnson, is a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, located in New Canaan, CT. This pastoral 49-acre landscape comprises fourteen structures, including the Glass House, and features a permanent collection of 20th-century painting and sculpture, along with annual contemporary exhibitions.​ Support preservation of a globally significant architectural landmark. The Glass House welcomes 15,000+ annual visitors. The site is open April 15th through December 15th and advance tickets are required. Open Thursday through Monday.
