RIDGEFIELD, CT — When Dr. William Collins takes over as the town's new superintendent in February, he will be making north of $230,000 per year, the News Times is reporting.

Collins' contract, which he signed on Jan. 9, calls for a salary of $233,303 along with a $14,660 annuity. The contract covers a term of employment through June 30, 2021.

Other highlights include 15 sick days, 25 vacation days, and four personal granted annually. Collins is entitled to take side gigs such as consulting work so long as his extracurricular activity does not interfere with his primary job as schools superintendent.

The salary and the perks are standard and in line with the deal cut by Collins' predecessor, Dr. Karen Baldwin.

The town has been absent a full-time schools superintendent ever since Baldwin stepped down last March following a plagiarism scandal.
