Keeler Tavern Museum Launches Search For New Executive Director As Longtime Leader Retires
Keeler Tavern Museum in Ridgefield begins a search for a new executive director as Hildegard Grob prepares to retire.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — The board of directors of Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center has begun a search for a new executive director, with longtime leader Hildegard Grob set to retire June 30 after more than 14 years in the role.
Board President David Yaun said the museum is seeking a candidate with a strong background in finance and fundraising as it approaches several major milestones, including the national America 250 commemoration, the museum’s 60th anniversary, and the 250th anniversary of the 1777 Battle of Ridgefield.
“These events present our incoming director with unique and compelling opportunities to deepen engagement with the community while ensuring the long-term financial stability of the Museum,” Yaun said in a statement.

Located on Main Street in Ridgefield and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum preserves and interprets American history through the people, events and buildings associated with its site. The institution offers exhibitions, educational programs and public events aimed at fostering historical inquiry and community engagement.
According to the board, ideal candidates will have at least three to five years of senior leadership experience at a nonprofit cultural institution, a demonstrated record of fundraising success, and experience overseeing administrative, financial and operational functions. Strong communication skills and a commitment to the museum’s mission are also required.

Yaun said the board is looking for a leader who can promote engagement and dialogue around history and its continued relevance to contemporary communities.
