Latest Ridgefield Coronavirus Update: 19 Deaths
Here are the latest, local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Ridgefield.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — Health Director Ed Briggs reports that 19 residents have died after being infected with the new coronavirus.
In a news release, First Selectman Rudy Marconi has asked all residents to take the extra measure of wearing a face covering/mask when entering all places of business. The request anticipates an order expected at the state level from Gov. Ned Lamont which would require all employees in stores to cover their faces, as well as people outside who are unable to maintain a social distance.
The Connecticut Department of Public Health has confirmed there are 134 active cases of the virus in the Town as of Friday.
The state reported 65 new deaths Friday, which brought the total to 1,036. There were also 925 new positive cases and a net increase of 20 hospitalizations. Currently, there are a total of 16,809 positive cases and 1,946 current hospitalizations.
