Our State Legislators Have Earned Our Re-Election Vote

State Senators Julie Kusher and Ceci Maher, as well as State Representative Aimee Berger-Girvalo, have earned our re-election vote.

Ridgefield’s incumbent state legislators have earned our vote for re-election. State Senator Julie Kushner, who represents northern Ridgefield, and State Senator Ceci Maher, who represents southern Ridgefield, have been standout leaders in the State Senate. Both are committee chairs and have represented us capably in a full range of issues.

In the State House of Representatives, Rep. Aimee Berger-Girvalo, who represents more than 90% of Ridgefield, has delivered again and again. Savet Constantine, an energetic and talented candidate, is running for an open seat in the House that includes the southwest portion of Ridgefield.

As a member of the Ridgefield Board of Finance, I focus on cost-effective delivery of Ridgefielders’ needs. Speaking only for myself, I’m so pleased that those goals are strongly supported by our three Democratic incumbents as well as Ms. Constantine, all complementing the fiscally prudent accomplishments of Gov. Ned Lamont.

In their current term of office, our legislators have lowered taxes for the middle class in Connecticut, brought state funding to Ridgefield Public Schools for HVAC improvements and playgrounds, and enacted important new reproductive health care safeguards. Specifically, beginning in 2024, the income tax rates for the first $20,000 of income and the next $80,000 of income have been reduced (figures for married individuals; half for singles), for joint filers with income up to $300,000. This was accomplished while strengthening the state’s fiscal position.

I urge Ridgefielders to join me in supporting the re-election of State Senators Kusher and Maher, the re-election of Rep. Berger-Girvalo, and the election of Savet Constantine.
