Ridgefield BOS Seeks Volunteers For Comparison Of Government Committee
What's the best government model for running Ridgefield? The town is putting together a new committee to help figure that out…
RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Ridgefield Board of Selectpersons is creating a Comparison of Government Committee to explore the idea of amending Ridgefield’s form of Government.
The idea was borne from a recommendation made by the 2023 Charter Revision Commission.
The State of Connecticut gives each municipality the choice to adopt and amend its own charter, which becomes the basic body of law for the municipality and determines the form of local government. Ridgefield follows the Selectpersons-Town Meeting model, but also uses a Board of Finance.
The Comparison of Government Committee will explore implementing other variations of government structures and bring recommendations to the BOS, according to a notification on the town website.
The BOS will vote on the number of members and the charge of the Committee n March 20, and candidate interviews will follow.
The BOS is asking that all interested candidates submit a resume to selectman@ridgefieldct.gov by March 15.
