Ridgefield Playhouse Raised $415K At Fall Gala
Featuring Legendary Headliner, Elvis Costello & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton
Ridgefield Playhouse’s Executive Director, Ashley Paltauf announced the organization raised a record-breaking $415,000 at their Fall Gala on November 9, 2024. This extraordinary evening featured a live flash mob performance by the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance to Soul Bossa Nova by the late Quincy Jones, and included a live Rubix cube art display featuring a picture of Elvis Costello by artist, The College Cuber.
Costello shared, “We were very happy concluding our touring year at Ridgefield Playhouse's Fall Gala. As we travel from coast to coast and across the wide, wild ocean, it becomes more apparent that we need to support and celebrate venues like the Ridgefield Playhouse.”
Meteorologist Matt Scott lit up the live auction with his signature energy and charisma, captivating the audience throughout the evening. Among the highly coveted live auction items were two tickets to the sold-out Oasis Concert at MetLife Stadium, paired with a one-night stay at NYC’s luxurious Equinox Hotel; a private in-home dinner party for eight catered by S+B Catering; a guitar autographed by Elvis Costello, with an exclusive post-dinner meet and greet with the artist himself.
One of the evening’s most memorable moments was a heartfelt speech by Jodi Simon Stewart, the devoted leader of the Arts In Education program. Regardless of economic background, Ridgefield Playhouse is committed to making the arts and education accessible and affordable for all students throughout Connecticut and New York. Adding a personal perspective, Shaniece Carter, a 4th grade teacher from Shelter Rock Elementary School in Danbury, CT, painted a picture of how the arts is a crucial part of education and lifelong learning, inspiring students to embrace new perspectives and expand their imaginations.
Though ticket sales are essential, they cover only a fraction of the funds needed to sustain the Ridgefield Playhouse. As a non-profit, depending on the generosity of supporters to help bridge the gap is crucial to keeping the mission alive. The Playhouse’s impact extends far beyond the performances - it fuels economic growth. Each show uplifts local businesses, restaurants, and shops.
"We’re incredibly grateful for the unwavering love and support this community has shown us," said Executive Director, Ashley Paltauf. "It's remarkable to think we’re wrapping up our 24th year, having set new records each year in both live performances and funds raised. As we look ahead to our 25th anniversary, we’re planning something truly extraordinary. I won’t reveal any surprises just yet—so stay tuned!"
