Dear Fellow Ridgefielders,
“I hope you don't have any children”
“…missed by only a couple of inches. Darn”
“Please go away”
These are the hate-filled words that my wife, Colette, received in an email over the weekend in response to her recent campaign mailer. Colette is our candidate who is running for the HD111 State House of Representatives seat. As Chairman of the Ridgefield Republican Town Committee, but more importantly, as Colette’s husband, I formally denounce these statements and all forms of political violence targeted at all candidates, regardless of party, affiliation, gender, race, creed or persuasion. They have no place in Ridgefield or our country.
In America, we settle our differences through respectful debate and discussion. We choose ballots over bullets. As members of this wonderful community, I ask that you join us and denounce abhorrent behavior such as this. Freedom of speech comes with responsibilities. Let’s join together and rise above this toxic rhetoric. Let’s agree to disagree without being disagreeable. There is far more that unites us than divides us. Please say NO to all forms of political violence.
God Bless Ridgefield, and God Bless America.
Warmest wishes,
Greg Kabasakalian, Chairman
Ridgefield Republican Town Committee
