Ridgefield School Board Approves New $91M School Budget
The 2016-2017 Ridgefield school budget requests more than $5 million in new spending.

RIDGEFIELD, CT-- The Ridgefield Public Schools Board approved the 2016-2017 budget, including an increase of more than $5 million in new spending, according to The News Times.
Ridgefield's new superintendent Karen Baldwin requested to hire a new communications specialist/webmaster and a new custodian, but was denied.

Sixty-two percent of the schools' 91 million budget goes to salaries, with another 19 percent allocated for employee benefits, according to the school board's website.
Factors impacting the increase include class size, student achievement, improved Tier I instruction, intervention, teacher turnover, grant management, and more.
The Board of Selectmen will review and revise the proposal in March before submitting to the Board of Finance.
