RSO Quartet Inspired by the Art of Layo Bright!

Presented by the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra & The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum

On Friday, October 18th at 7:00 PM, the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra (RSO) String Quartet will perform a concert inspired by visual art. The quartet, composed of the RSO’s principal string player – Jorge Avila and Mialtin ZheZha, violins; Suzanne Corey-Sahlin, viola; Nicholas Hardie, cello – will play a beautiful and engaging program of music with inspiration drawn from the Layo Bright: Dawn and Dusk exhibition currently on display at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.

“I’m inspired by our unique backgrounds, the current times we live in, the fragility of life, and the resilience to survive while navigating complex issues that seem to define us” says artist Layo Bright. The quartet has taken the artist’s thoughts and her physical art and developed a creative program of music which will include selections from Franz Schubert’s “Rosamunde” Quartet, Joseph Haydn’s “Sunrise” Quartet, Giacomo Puccini’s “Chrysanthemums”, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Fantasiestücke “Humoresque” and Teresa Carreño’ String Quartet in B minor. The connections between the music and the art will be articulated throughout the performance and highlight both the marvelous music and the beauty and strength of the art.

“The 2024/25 season marks the fourth year the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra and The Aldrich Museum has collaborated to present the RSO Quartet in concert inspired by visual art” says RSO Executive Director Laurie Kenagy. “The concept of making connections between classical chamber music and exhibitions at the museum has resonated with a broad audience, and we look forward to continuing this series of concerts with the performance on October 18th.”

The concert will be held on Friday, October 18th at 7:00 PM at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum (258 Main Street, Ridgefield, CT). Doors open at 6:00 PM for patrons to view the exhibition prior to the concert.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the RSO box office at 203.438.3889 or online at https://ci.ovationtix.com/35696/performance/11462120?performanceId=11462120
