Save Ridgefield: Elect Colette Kabasakalian, A Leader Not A Follower
Leadership means knowing when to say NO
We moved to Ridgefield to escape the traffic, congestion and crime of New York City. Fast forward several years and traffic in Ridgefield is the worst I have ever seen. It will only get worse given the number of new developments being built. Ridgefield is losing its small-town charm; our open space is depleting and our habitats are disappearing. Crime is also up and so are our electric bills. What does this have to do with leadership? Everything.
For too long Ridgefield has been without a strong voice in Hartford which is why we are seeing the negative changes in our town. Ridgefield needs a leader NOT a follower. Leadership means knowing when to say NO:
- NO to overbuilding
- NO to the Eversource public benefit fee
- NO to gas tax increases
- NO to the police accountability bill which prevents our police from doing their job
- NO to bills that take away our local control
Ridgefield needs someone who isn’t afraid to speak up and push back. That someone is Colette Kabasakalian.
Colette is a longtime resident who is dedicated to our town and knows the needs of our community. She is running because she believes our town and our people deserve better. Better leadership, better communication and better policies. As a realtor, Colette appreciates the need for housing but also knows the fine balancing act that this requires to prevent overdevelopment and overbuilding. She knows life is expensive and will push hard against tax increases and unfair public benefit fees. She also believes Ridgefielders deserve to have a say on what happens in our town and not leave it up to Hartford bureaucrats whose lives and communities are unaffected by the mandates they push on us.
Legislation coming down from Hartford is changing small towns like Ridgefield into cities because there is no opposition. Ridgefield needs a leader with a strong backbone who will actually stand up and challenge harmful legislation not a follower who votes in lock step with their party.
We need to preserve what is left of Ridgefield but nothing changes without change. I hope you will join me in voting for Colette Kabasakalian for State Representative because Ridgefield deserves better.
