Ridgefield College Student Helps Police Catch Alleged Art Thief: Report

A suspect tried to get away with $50,000 worth of art.

SHELTON, CT — Boston's Galerie D’Orsay art gallery can thank Boston University students Mackenzie Thompson, of Shelton, Chris Savino, of Ridgefield, and another friend for being in the right place at the time.

The friends were walking near the gallery on Newbury Street after the Super Bowl over a week ago, when they thwarted a $50,000 art heist, reports the Boston Globe.

The incident occurred after the three saw a smashed window at the gallery, heard the alarm going off and saw a man walking away carrying four paintings, including a Picasso and a Rembrandt.
