I am writing today to express my strong support for the re-election of State Representative Aimee Berger-Girvalo. Throughout her tenure as our representative, she has been a dedicated advocate for the well-being and future of our children, particularly in the areas of education, mental health, and the environment.
Members of our Board of Education and our Superintendent all know that she is always available to talk and will bring Ridgefield’s concerns to Hartford. Aimee is also endorsed by the Connecticut Education Association as she has worked to ensure that our schools are places where both students and teachers can thrive. Just this year, she successfully secured $400,000 for ADA-compliant playgrounds for Ridgefield. Her advocacy also led to $200,000 in grants to upgrade and maintain HVAC systems in our schools.
Another of Aimee’s contributions has been her support for children's mental health. She backed legislation that enabled schools to hire essential support staff, including psychologists, social workers, and counselors, ensuring that students receive the mental health services they need. The law also requires play-based learning be incorporated into the day for children in K and PreK, and it permits teachers in grades 1-5 to incorporate.
Finally, Aimee understands that the future of our children is inextricably linked to the health of our environment. Her work as Vice Chair on the Transportation Committee and support for the CT Clean Air Act aims to develop zero-emission vehicle infrastructure and electrification of CT’s vehicle fleet to preserve and protect the environment. Aimee’s efforts ensure that our children can grow, learn, and thrive in a healthy Connecticut.
Her leadership on these and other critical issues make her an irreplaceable asset to our community and in Hartford. I hope you will join me in wholeheartedly supporting Aimee Berger-Girvalo’s re-election.
