Wesleyan Chaplain Presents Public Forum on Resilience at St. Stephen's
Tracy Mehr-Muska presents a discussion of her book on resilience, Weathering the Storm.

Tracy Mehr-Muska, D. Min., university chaplain at Wesleyan University, will be a special guest at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church on Sunday, September 22. Rev. Mehr-Muska will present a discussion, open to the public, at 1 p.m. in North Hall of her book on resilience, Weathering the Storm: Simple Strategies for Being Peaceful and Prepared.
Rev. Mehr-Muska is passionate about resilience. She believes it enables people not only to survive adversity, but to be transformed by it. In Weathering the Storm, she shares stories of her struggles with self-esteem, sexual assault and miscarriage that inspired her to research resilience. She reached the conclusion that resilience is not inborn, but instead is a set of characteristics that can be cultivated. Her book includes inspirational secular and multi-faith stories, as well as compelling scientific evidence.
The Rev. Erika Hagen said of Mehr-Muska’s upcoming visit: “In my work as Associate for Caring Ministries at St. Stephen’s, I am keenly aware that it is not a question of if stresses and trials will come into our lives, but when. Giving people tools for resilience and inspiration that they can prepare for these times through their own habits and spiritual practices is such a gift; I have learned a great deal from Rev. Mehr-Muska and am so pleased that the Ridgefield community will have this opportunity to hear her speak.”
Rev. Mehr-Muska received her Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and her Doctor of Ministry from Hartford International University for Religion and Peace (formerly Hartford Seminary). Before entering Princeton Theological, she graduated with a B.S. in Marine and Environmental Sciences from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Coast Guard.
