Core Power is starting the New Year with new beginnings as well. Take out your calendar, book appointments to add in exercise, just as you would with a dentist or doctor appointment. Check out the following new classes, an opportunity to take steps towards positive change.

Yoga for Bariatric/Non-Bariatric Patients
A nurturing supportive group environment offers each participant encouragement leading to a road of self-discovery, mindfulness and positive lifestyle changes promoting wellness from the inside out. Core Power has partnered with Sacred Rivers Yoga in Glastonbury for an exciting yoga program focusing on bariatric and non-bariatric patients. Classes run in four-week sessions (starting Feb. 4) two times per week, Tuesdays 6 to 6:45 p.m. and Saturdays 10:45 to 11:30 a.m.

Class focuses on meditation, breath work and yoga utilizing a chair and other tools to help reduce stress, increase flexibility and strength while toning of the muscles. A true mind and body connection offers similar techniques used in a mindfulness-based stress reduction program. Until the mind is connected to the body, change cannot take place no matter what we are trying to “fix." One of the major benefits of a yoga program is stress reduction. As you are aware, stress reeks havoc on the body causing a variety of issues. Incorporated into the program are suggestions on how to eat healthy, recipes for healthy meals, food journaling to also include documenting specific feelings when eating certain foods (i.e., tired, energetic, light, etc.).
Fat-Free Core Power Workout!
Is your current workout in need of a makeover? Beginning Saturday, Jan. 14 from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m., a new Fat-Free Core Power Workout is being offered as a drop-in class. This creative class combines short bursts of cardio with alternating segments of core and strength training. As always, nothing is routine with Core Power, the workout is different each week (one of the main reasons why so many people have experienced results!) Interval training (one of my favorite ways to train) is one of the best ways to get in shape, burns lots of fat/calories, increase cardiovascular efficiency, helps avoid injuries associated with repetitive movement and you have a cardio, core and strength workout all in one!
Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in attending these classes or for more specific information.
