Cute Phone Numbers

Why using "cute" phone numbers can hurt your business if not used properly.

Cute phone numbers are numbers that spell something out. CUTE=2883

Are cute phone numbers great for marketing?

From a marketing perspective? Brilliant!

From a users perspective? Especially if you don’t have, nearby, on your website, ad, or business card, have a explanation of the numbers? Hugely frustrating!

Think for a moment, if you have a cute phone number, ie. 555-WIDGETS, how long does it take for a customer or potential customer to have to look at their phone and type it in by figuring out letters=numbers?

For many (or maybe a few) not so hard. For a teenager? (piece of cake), for people addicted to their mobile phone texting? (maybe a piece of cake),  but what about the average American who does not use a mobile phone for texting on a daily basis, what about seniors, let alone people who are dyslexic? Having words that you have to type in corresponding numbers to is very very frustrating.

If someone dials a number “translated” from a cute phone number and gets the wrong number (more often than you would imagine). How many times are they going to try to re-call it? Or how many times are they just going to go elsewhere for business?

Put a translation in actual numbers nearby!
