RH Parks and Rec: Strength Training Program

Looking for a stronger, toned and chiseled body? Check out this functionl strength training session a the Town of RH!

Looking for a stronger, toned and chiseled body? The only way to change the shape of your body is through a strength training regime. Besides ascetics, strength training has so many other health benefits.

If you have been to any of my classes, you know I have a strong passion for strength training! If strength training is embedded in your workout, you are already aware of a how critical it is for bone density, weight loss and is absolutely necessary to the art of weight management! If you have battled weight issues (like me), you understand the importance of strength training.

New to strength training or experienced? Check out my functional strength (movements that mimic how the body moves in real life) classes at the town of Rocky Hill (Parks&Rec).  Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m. and Noon. We recently added an 11 a.m. session as the demand for this training has grown as well as class sizes!

Incorporated into the training is medicine balls, BOSU balls, free-weights, bars, body weight and bands. These tools are used to challenge the muscles of the body with a variety of creative moves to strengthen all of the major muscles groups (shoulders, back, chest, biceps, triceps, quads, hams, calves, core, etc.).

The core piece of class usually offers a combination of Yoga/Pilates moves to further challenge the muscles of the core (core muscles located from the neck down to the knees). Rest assure, you will never ever do a sit-up/crunch in any of my classes, as these “exercises” do not fully engage the core muscles and add absolutely no value! Balance is also sprinkled in, we lose balance as we age, and this is the only way to get it back! The workout routine is never routine, always different to help keep those muscles challenged!  These classes foster a friendly, supportive and encouraging environment for all participants. Options are offered throughout class,  following the vanilla version and eventually working your way to the strawberry and chocolate versions.  Class winds down with a core challenging grand finale,  to take you to the next level!  The final icing, a well deserved array of essential stretches rounds out the classes.
