Business Owners Gather to Discuss Identity Theft

Rebecca Flowers of Legal Shield had an informal convesation with small business owners about identity theft at the monthly  breakfast Friday morning.

Local business owners gather the third Friday of every month at the to network, eat breakfast and discuss topics affecting small businesses.

Flowers, who is formerly of Pre-Paid Legal Services, said business owners and people in general have to be protective of their driver's license, finances and social security number.  She said that one of her clients went for a job interview at Target and discovered that her social security number was being used in 37 states.

"With identity theft, you're guilty until proven innocent," Flowers stated. "We cannot stop identity theft, but what we can do is try to fix it."
