Business Owners Gather to Discuss QR Codes

Chamber of Commerce holds its monthly networking breakfast.

QR Codes were the topic of discussion at the monthly  breakfast Friday morning.

Local business owners gather the third Friday of every month at the to network, eat breakfast and discuss topics affecting small businesses.

Jeff Foley, owner of , discussed QR Codes and how they can help local businesses.

“It’s surprising how many businesses do not know about QR Codes,” Foley said.

QR Codes are a matrix style barcode, which when scanned reveal text, an URL or other information.

Foley said that he puts QR Codes on his business cards, flyers and in television ads. QR Codes can also be scanned on your smart phone with a free application.

Michael O’Toole of Q S Technologies said that QR Codes could be the “way of the future.”

Joyce Boncal of Advertise You added that QR Codes are more effective if they are used to engage the customers by offering them entertainment or coupons. She added that they are also effective when you have limited space or time to sell your business.
