Girls' Hoops Team to Celebrate Holiday With Vets
Annual party allows basketball players to interact with veterans during the holiday season.

The residents at the will be treated to a holiday party from the girls' basketballl team.
"It’s a great time and has become such a tradition that the staff and veterans start asking around this time of year if we are coming back," said head coach Peter Egan. It is the ninth time that the Rocky Hill girls' basketballl team will be hosting a party for the veterans.

Following practice and dinner at Wednesday, the team will head to the where they will talk with the veterans, give them presents, engage in a game or two of bingo and sing Christmas carols.
"It is a great thing for them and for our players. These men and women have given so much to our country and it’s important that we recognize them, especially at this time of the year," Egan said. "It has always been a great experience for the players and coaches."

The players will bring the veterans gift certificates, a wrapped item such as gloves, scarf, books or knitted caps, a phone card and small present of their choosing.
At the end of the event, an official from the will talk to the team about their mission and how veterans end up in their care.
