Kindergarteners Get Ready For School
Annual program helps kindergarten students prepare for first day of school.
Students had a good time while learning some valuable information at the annual event held at the Thursday evening.
Children’s Librarian Cathy Potter said the focus of the event is make children feel more comfortable about going to school.
Katrina McDonough, who was with her son, Michael, was happy that the event was “very positive for the kids to become acclimated into a new situation.”

Children and their parents were treated to a show by JuggleJoy Educational Entertainment, which is run by husband and wife team of Keith Hughes and Mary Joy Moriarty. Their variety act includes circus skills like juggling, unicycling, plate-spinning and magic.
The sixty students who turned out for the event, which is sponsored by the , received a trip around the block on a school bus.

Volunteers Nancy Brescia, Scott Marroto and Mark McNally brought a to the event, which was a big hit with the children. The volunteers showed the children the inside of the ambulance and gave them a bag with a coloring book and some Smarties. The ambulance was just added to the event this year.
Jennifer Williams enjoyed the oxygen mask demonstration by the Rocky Hill Volunteer Ambulance Association and cannot wait to back to school to use the computers. Her father, Gary Williams, said the Kindergarten Families Welcome was a “wonderful event” where kindergarteners were having a good time.
