Photos: High, Middle School Art Show

The artwork of middle and high school students will be displayed at the library until April 5.

 

and school students showed off their artwork at the grand opening of their exhibit at the Thursday night.

Thursday's reception was a celebration of Youth Art Month as well a opportunity to showcase the students' artwork for the community.

"It is a chance for the town to see what the art program is doing for its students," said high school art teacher Eileen Schnyder.

Schnyder said that they have been fortunate to have the library host the event for close to 20 years. The friends of Cora J. Belden Library provided refreshments for the event.

When sophomore Emma Skultety got into high school, she became interested in art. In art class recently, she had to design a logo for the company Total Wellness. Her design was one of the pieces of artwork displayed on Thursday night.

"I had some good ideas," Skultety said about her design.

Schnyder also thanked the elementary school art teachers, which showcased their , for providing the students with a "nice foundation."

The artwork, which included sculptors and photography as well as digital designs and ceramics, will be on display at the library until April 5.
