Stevens Schools Offers Reading Program Tonight
Literacy program aims to improve reading and writing among kindergarteners and first graders.

A reading program will be held tonight inside the cafeteria of from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
The program titled "Kids Who Read, Succeed!" is targeting families with children in kindergarten and first grade, Rocky Hill Public Schools Coordinator of Language Arts Darlene Brown said.
The school will provide all the materials needed for the program as well as magnetic letters and a DVD titled "Raising a Reader," which shows ways parents can promote literacy through everyday activities.

There will be a question and answer session with teachers and parents will work with their children on different reading and writing activities, Brown said. Parents will be shown activities that they can do at home with their children.
Parents should receive information about the program from their student's classroom teacher. The program will have a different theme each meeting and will meet six times this year.
