During the class that ran from October to December, the students made pictures of snakes and reptiles by using patterns of dots to simulate African mud paintings and butterflies by using symmetry, oil pastels and watercolors. They made artwork that showed distance and the difference between warm and cold colors. The children also did a picture for the holidays.
"It was a good class," said instructor Lisa Roncaiol.

Roncaiol said she allows her students to be free and have fun with their work. She added that the lessons are modified based on her students' input.
Many of the projects are completed in one to two classes because most students lose interest "really fast," Roncaiol stated.
A new art class titled "Have Some Hart" will be held Wednesdays from Jan. 11 to May 9 at 6 p.m. at the . The class will be open to children between the ages of seven and 12.
An art show is held on the last day of classes and light refreshments are always served.
The class is expected to produce more artwork, Roncaiol said because of the longer time period. However, lessons are not expected to be repeated.
"I have never repeated an idea," Roncaiol said.
The price of the class is $80 for a Rocky Hill resident and $85 for non-residents. Anyone interested in the class is asked to call 860-258-2726, visit the Parks and Recreation Department website or stop by their office.
