Terriers Win Three In A Row

Great pitching performances, solid defense and timely hitting help lead the Rocky Hill boys baseball team to three victories.

 

After three wins in a row, the Rocky Hill baseball team has qualified for the state tournament for the third straight year, but they still want to continue to improve in their final games of the season.

"I'm very proud of this team and how they have competed all season long," said head coach George McKinnon. "We still have some games to play and we want to be playing real well when the tournament starts in a few weeks."

On May 7, pitcher Dan Madigan help lead boys baseball team to a lop-sided victory against Bloomfield, 18-1.

Madigan pitched all seven innings for his fourth win of the season. He had a perfect game going into the seventh inning before the Warhawks scored their only run of the contest.

Jack Grant lead the team with three hits and three RBIs. Josh Zawisa, Jeff Osak, Tom Seaver and Brendon Sullivan each had two hits.

Rocky Hill defeated 6-1 on May 9 after the Terriers turned two double plays to stop any chance of the Panthers rallying.

Spencer Bunting pitched the second straight complete game for Rocky Hill as he won his third game of the season. He gave up only five hits and struck out eight.

A long home run by Zawisa and a two-RBI single by Osak put the game out of reach for the Terriers.

Hartford Public High School would be the next fall to the Terriers as Rocky Hill defeated the Owls, 9-4 on May 10.

Seaver pitched six 1/3 innings with six strikeouts for the victory. Kyle Wolf would get the final two outs for his first save of the season.

Grant lead the Terriers with three hits and a RBI. Chris Bouchard and Brandon Grover added two hits a piece and combined for three RBIs.

Terriers has a record of 8-7 with five games left to play in the regular season. Rocky Hill will play Fermi at at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
