Youngsters Practice for Their First Musical Performance

Stepping Stone Theatre participants prepare for their performance of "How Does Your Garden Grow" on Friday.

The , which is sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department, is a one-week workshop for children ages 4 to 7 to be introduced to the world of musicals.

“It’s a great theatre experience for them,”  said. And added that is “a very relaxed atmosphere.”  

Daigle and Producer Barbara Dalton run the program. Students do different stage activities throughout the week including acting in a fairy tale, nursery rhyme and puppet show. The group also works on crafts that will be used for the set, Dalton said.

On Friday, the young actors and actresses will be performing the musical “How Does Your Garden Grow” at 7 p.m. at the . 

“They love it,” Daigle said. “They are so excited to perform.”

The play is “geared toward the age group” and allows the older children to have a few short lines. However, there is no one star.

“Everyone gets a chance,” Daigle said. “And there is not too much pressure.”
