SEYMOUR, CT — A new creative hub is bringing community music-making to the Valley. Hosted by the 19th Connecticut State Troubadour, Charlie Widmer, the monthly Open Mic Night and Bluegrass Jam takes place in the Fellowship Hall of Great Hill United Methodist Church in Seymour, CT. The evening is free and open to the public for both performers and spectators.

The event kicks off at 6:00 PM with a guided Open Bluegrass Jam. This jam is designed for players of all skill levels—from beginners taking their first steps in a group setting to seasoned pickers.

At 7:00 PM, the stage opens for the Open Mic, offering a welcoming space for musicians, poets, and storytellers to showcase their craft. To ensure a variety of creative voices are heard, performers are invited to share up to two selections or a 10-minute set.

"This is a chance to share what makes the Valley special and connect with like-minded individuals," says Widmer. "Adding the bluegrass jam creates a full evening of community music-making that we hope will become a staple for local artists."

Complimentary coffee, tea, and light refreshments will be provided.
