1 Killed When Car Hits Tree In Shelton, Police Seek Witnesses
State police said the crash happened shortly after 3:40 a.m. on Route 8 just south of Exit 14.

SHELTON, CT — A person died early Saturday when their car struck a tree and caught fire off Route 8 in Shelton, according to Connecticut State Police.
Authorities said the crash happened shortly after 3:40 a.m. on Route 8 just south of Exit 14. According to police, the driver of the car was traveling northbound when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree.
After hitting the tree, police said the car caught fire.

The driver, whom police have not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
