16-Year-Old Accused Of Murder In Shelton: Police
The suspect, an Ansonia resident, is accused of the June killing of Ivan Whyte , 23, at the Marriott Residence Inn on Bridgeport Avenue.

SHELTON, CT — A 16-year-old Ansonia teen was arrested on a warrant by Shelton police Wednesday in connection with the June 12 shooting death of Ivan Whyte, 23, in the parking lot of the Marriott Residence Inn on Bridgeport Avenue, according to Shelton police.
The teen, whose identity was not released due to his age, was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and carrying a pistol without a permit, and he is currently being held in a state juvenile detention facility, authorities said.
"The arrest was the result of a meticulous investigation led by Detectives Richard Bango and Christopher Nugent with assistance of the Shelton detective bureau and patrol divisions, [Connecticut State Police] Major Crime Squad, and the Stratford Police Department," Shelton police wrote in a statement.

The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected.
Whyte, a Bridgeport resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was found next to his vehicle towards the back of the Marriott complex at about 11:30 p.m.

According to Shelton Police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky, Whyte had gone to the inn to meet a group of people.
"Officers and detectives located several individuals that were in a room at the hotel having a get together," Kozlowsky said in June. "None of the individuals were Shelton residents. The individuals were acquaintances of Whyte, and it is believed that Whyte came to the hotel to meet them."
Whether the 16-year-old suspect was part of the group was not disclosed by police.
