2 Brush Fires Break Out On Route 8 In Shelton: FD

SHELTON, CT — A portion of Route 8 was temporarily shut down Tuesday after two brush fires broke out on the median of the highway.

In a news release, fire officials said one of the fires was approximately 120 yards long and the other was about 50 yards long. Both spanned the width of the median.

The highway was shut down until the brush fires were extinguished due to the heavy amount of smoke, officials said.

State police assisted crews with traffic control. The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
