2 Teens Arrested On Stolen Firearm Charges: Shelton Police

Two teens from Shelton and Derby were arrested this week following a police search for two firearms reported stolen from a Shelton home.

SHELTON, CT — Two teens from Shelton and Derby were arrested Tuesday on stolen firearm charges, according to Shelton police.

In a news release posted to Facebook, police said the arrests stemmed from an Oct. 17 incident in which two firearms were reported stolen from a Shelton home.

During their investigation, officers discovered the firearms had transitioned through several people, according to police.

Officers later found the two stolen firearms while searching homes and vehicles in Shelton and North Haven, police said.

Jaiden Lanzi, 18, of Shelton, was charged with theft of firearm, illegal transfer of a stolen firearm, improper storage of firearm and risk of injury to a minor. He was held on $100,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

Jason Smith, 19, of Derby, was charged with theft of firearm, illegal transfer of stolen firearm and improper storage of a firearm. He was held on a $200,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

Police also noted additional arrests are expected.
