DERBY, CT — Firefighters extinguished a basement fire Sunday evening in a home on Chapel Street in Derby, according to fire officials.
No injuries were reported in the blaze, which was reported at 6:24 p.m.
Firefighters saw heavy smoke when they arrived at the home, and found the fire in a corner of the basement.

The Derby department was assisted in battling the blaze by members of the Ansonia and Shelton fire departments.
Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
