Car Entangled In Tree After Crash In Shelton: FD

SHELTON, CT — A woman is in serious condition after a car she was in became entangled in a tree following a crash Saturday afternoon on Route 8 in Shelton, according to fire officials.

In a news release, fire officials said the single-vehicle crash was reported around 3:30 p.m. on Route 8 southbound between exits 12 and 13.

Crews were already on the northbound side of Route 8 at that time responding to a separate incident, fire officials said.

When firefighters arrived, they found a car entangled in a tree on the median and a woman inside the vehicle in serious condition, fire officials said.

Crews quickly removed the tree to gain access to the woman and remove her from the vehicle. She was then quickly moved to a local trauma facility, according to fire officials.

Fire officials said Route 8 southbound remained closed between exits 13 and 12 as of 5 p.m. on Saturday as state police conducted an investigation.
