Center Stage Theatre in Shelton has announced a new lineup of education programs this winter and spring for students ages 5-18. Things kick off with a brand new holiday camp during the winter break from school, December 27-30, for K-8th grade students. The 4-day camp is filled with singing, acting, dancing, games and culminates in a free holiday-themed performance for family and friends on Friday, December 30th. The holiday camp will be taught by staff members from Center Stage's summer camp along with some new faces as well.
Beginning the week of January 23rd, Center Stage will start a new 10-week spring session of classes for students ages 5-18. From Broadway Boot Camp to Behind The Scenes for Teens, there's something for everyone! Among the choices is the popular Center Stage Singers, a choral group that performs out in the community as young ambassadors for the non-profit theatre, sharing positive messages through song and dance. Classes will be headed up by Education Director Gina Scarpa as well as Lead Teachers Katherine Sedlock, Jessica Rahrig and several experienced and talented assistants.
Center Stage is also preparing for auditions for the return of its highly successful Musical Theatre Workshop Jr, a cabaret style show that was introduced for the first time last year. The show features 20-25 elementary and middle school students with auditions taking place this February. Preparations are also being made for the On Stage at Perry Hill School after school program in Shelton. Center Stage will be back for their 4th year in early February and will soon be announcing the musical they will be putting on with Perry Hill 5th and 6th grade students.
