Decision Made On Shelton Burlesque Cafe

A Planning and Zoning administrator has made a decision about the proposed cafe's zoning application.

SHELTON, CT — The city's planning and zoning administrator denied an application for a burlesque-themed cafe. The application was for a cafe with entertainment at 303 Old Bridgeport Ave.

Administrator Rick Schultz said that the speakeasy activity is a prohibited use at the proposed location, according to the Shelton Herald.

The proposal caused a stir in town when a conversation between an alderman and a person administrating the proposed cafe Facebook page said the business would feature topless lap dances. Owner Randi England claimed that the messages were created by a rogue ex-partner and the establishment wouldn't be a strip joint.
