Deportation Protesters Block Court, Get Arrested

The protesters blocked people from entering or exiting a federal courthouse in Hartford. A Derby father of four is scheduled to be deported.

DERBY, CT — A total of 19 protesters were arrested Tuesday at the federal courthouse in Hartford after they blocked doors. The group was protesting the deportation of Luis Barrios, an undocumented immigrant in Derby who has lived in the state for more than 20 years with no criminal record.

There were more than 100 protesters at the event, according to the Hartford Courant. Police ordered the 19 to stop blocking the building or face arrest. Barrios was ordered to be deported back to Guatemala. He has four U.S.-born children.
