Derby Mayor Selects Director Of Public Works, Administrative Assistant
Mayor Joseph DiMartino has selected former Derby Public Works foreman Michael Piscioneri as the city's director of public works.

DERBY, CT — Mayor Joseph DiMartino has selected former Derby Public Works foreman Michael Piscioneri as the city's director of public works.
According to a news release provided by the city, Piscioneri was employed at the Derby Public Works Department from 1985 to 2021. He started in his new position Dec. 4.
"I worked with Mike for more than 30 years and know his commitment to the city of Derby," DiMartino said in a news release. "We share a similar vision to clean up our city and restore pride to every neighborhood."

The announcement was made late Friday afternoon as DiMartino completed his first week in office after being elected as mayor back in November.
Piscioneri is a graduate of the Derby Public Schools and lives in Wallingford with his wife, Kristen.

"Derby is my hometown, and I am honored that Mayor DiMartino has the confidence in me to carry out his desire to improve the quality of life in our city," Piscioneri said in a news release.
Piscioneri was selected for the position by DiMartino with the advice and encouragement of Anthony DeFala Sr., the city's former director of public works.
DiMartino also recently selected Pamela Happy as his administrative assistant. Happy previously served as an administrative assistant to the city's mayor from 2017 to 2021.
"Pam has a thorough understanding of the city of Derby and its citizens," DiMartino said in a news release. "She is highly organized and detail oriented. She has made this first week in office much less stressful than it could have been. I am pleased that she has agreed to return to City Hall."
He also noted Happy was well-regarded by City Hall staff and the city's taxpayers. A native of Seymour, she also began her new position Dec. 4.
"I look forward to assisting Mayor DiMartino with his plan to serve the city of Derby," Happy said in a news release. "I am excited to be able to serve the great people of Derby again."
