Derby Middle School Receives $300,000 In Bond Funding

The state's bond commission approved $300,000 in funding to address various improvements, alterations and repairs at Derby Middle School.

DERBY, CT — State Sen. Jorge Cabrera announced Thursday the state's bond commission has approved $300,000 in funding for Derby Middle School.

In a news release, Cabrera said the funds will go toward addressing various improvements, alterations and repairs at the school to promote the health, safety and learning of students.

"I'm grateful to the bond commission for approving funding for Derby Middle School on their agenda," Cabrera said in a news release. "These funds will go a long way to making the in-school environment even better and will help to bolster each students' confidence when they witness the improvements being made to their school."

Gov. Ned Lamont said this funding will provide timely improvements to the middle school that will benefit the entire school community.

"This state funding will help Derby Middle School make the necessary upgrades to its infrastructure that are necessary for the school to continue its mission of providing a quality education to its students," Lamont said in a news release, "and I am glad we could partner with the city to get this released."
