Derby Police Giving Away Steering Wheel Locks To Hyundai, Kia Owners
Derby police said they are giving away the steering wheel locks "in response to the ongoing influx of Hyundai and Kia motor vehicle thefts."

DERBY, CT — Derby police are giving away steering wheel locks to Hyundai and Kia vehicle owners in light of recent car thefts.
In a Facebook post, police said the department is giving away the locks "in response to the ongoing influx of Hyundai and Kia motor vehicle thefts."
The steering wheel locks were provided by Hyundai and will be given to vehicle owners at no cost. Hyundai and Kia owners are asked to contact the Derby Police Department at 203-735-7811 to schedule an appointment.

According to police, a pre-scheduled appointment will be necessary and the vehicle's owner must be present to pick up the device.
To be eligible, the vehicle's owner will need to provide a valid Hyundai or Kia registration for a car registered in Derby. The vehicle must also have been manufactured between 2011 and 2022, police said.

The devices will be given out on a first come, first serve basis until the department runs out, according to police.
