DiMatteo Group Financial Services Delivered 85 Baskets of Easter Joy

Easter is more than one day, it's a season of joy and hope. For over 25 years, DiMatteo Group Financial Services in Shelton has been delivering joy to homeless children in the region.

For this year's Easter drive, 85 baskets were distributed to four shelters in Norwalk and Stamford. The Easter baskets were full of a variety of hygiene products, including deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrush, and hand sanitizer.

Specifically, baskets were dropped off at the following shelters in Fairfield County: 15 baskets to Open Door Shelter, Inc. in Norwalk, 12 baskets to Domestic Violence Crisis Center in Norwalk, 10 baskets to Domestic Violence Crisis Center in Stamford, and 50 baskets to Inspirica, Inc. in Stamford.

Each basket was filled with age-appropriate necessities specifically for children age 0 to 2, 3 to 8, and 9 and up.

Since its inception, 2,200 baskets have helped thousands of area children in need. This annual companywide and family tradition was started by Bethany residents John DiMatteo, President of DiMatteo Group Financial Services and his wife Kim DiMatteo, now Senior Vice President of Cross Insurance in Shelton. Their three young children, Anthony, Michael and Jessica plus other employees, friends and clients also pitched in for this worthwhile community outreach project.

Now, Jessica DiMatteo of Bethany, an MBA candidate at the University of Tampa, and Financial Assistant at DiMatteo Group Financial Services along with Jordan Miller of New Haven, Client Service Specialist at DiMatteo Group Financial Services, spearheaded this year’s successful drive.

For the past couple of years, the community at large has become more involved because donors ordered preselected items from an Amazon list and had them shipped directly to their Shelton office. Twenty-five good Samaritans contributed to this worthwhile cause, while family and friends sorted everything.

Special thanks to the following outstanding volunteers who worked with Jordan Miller, Jessica DiMatteo, and her mom, Kim DiMatteo, founder of the Easter Basket Drive: Kim LaChance of Prospect, Lexie Smith of Wallingford, and Cindy Smith and Christina Caruso, both of Bethany.

"My whole family wants to personally thank all the contributors and volunteers for their generosity in making our annual Easter Basket Drive a big success again," said Jessica DiMatteo. "We hope to bring smiles of delight to these children, many of whom lack the basic essentials."

DiMatteo Group supports many other local charities through the DiMatteo Family Charitable Foundation. The Foundation was established over 17 years ago as a tribute to its founder and late father and grandfather Anthony “Tony” DiMatteo, who was battling cancer at the time. Since then, the Foundation has contributed over $508,000 to nearly 20 charities that fund research, education and finding a cure for diseases.
