Drugs Sold Out Of Derby Store, 2 Arrested: PD

Police got multiple tips about drugs being sold inside a Derby store.

DERBY, CT — Two people were arrested after they were found to be distributing narcotics out of Hawkins Corner store on Hawkins Street, according to police.

Police received several tips about drug activity at the store and after several months of investigation conducted a search warrant with the aid of the DEA and an Orange Police K-9 on Aug. 20.

During the search of the store .6 grams of heroin, 3.8 grams of crack, 13 grams of marijuana, prescription pills and packaging materials were found, police said.

William McKnight, 47, of Derby was charged with possession of crack-cocaine, possession with intent to sell crack-cocaine, possession of crack-cocaine within school zone, possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell marijuana, possession of marijuana within school zone. Keisha Nesmith, 38, of Derby was charged with possession of crack-cocaine, possession with intent to sell crack-cocaine, possession of crack-cocaine within school zone, possession of heroin, possession with intent to sell heroin, possession of heroin within school zone, failure to keep narcotics in original container and Possession of schedule 2 Oxycodone. She was held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
